Minutes of Tainan City Government’s 497th Municipal Administrative Meeting 6/28/2021

Announcements
1.    The Bureau of Transportation’s report on the progress of Tainan’s project to put railways underground (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
(1)     The Ministry of Culture’s Bureau of Cultural Heritage has provided many recommendations for the construction work of Tainan Train Station. I urge concerned departments to address these recommendations accordingly. I look forward to the timely completion of the Railway Bureau’s construction project.
(2)     Regarding ground subsidence that has occurred as a result of this project, I ask the Public Works Bureau and Bureau of Transportation to assist the Railway Bureau in safeguarding residents’ safety in the immediate area. Please place particular emphasis on work safety.
(3)     Should any roads need to be closed because of construction, please make sure that alternative routes are planned, so as to not affect traffic.

2.    The Agriculture Bureau’s report on regulation measures for the production and sales of local mangoes (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
As a producer of mangoes, Tainan’s mango sales have been hit by a number of factors, including a decrease in in-person promotional events and issues with Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Co., Ltd. This has resulted in a decrease in the number of mangoes delivered and sold. The number of tourists has also dropped because of the pandemic. These all adversely affect the sale of local mangoes. On the bright side, Tainan has seen an increase in exports, mango processing, and online sales, which benefit the sale of mangoes. I ask the Agriculture Bureau, concerned departments, and municipal advisers to brainstorm ways to increase the advantage of local mangoes. Let’s not let the hard work of local farmers go to waste.
