Mayor’s Remarks:
1. We won’t have a long holiday for quite some time following the February 28 long weekend holiday. I urge civil servants to fulfill their responsibilities and satisfy public demand during this period of time.
2. During the long holiday, media outlets and residents voiced their opinions about the quality of public construction in the city. Although the project in question was not commissioned by the municipal government, we remain responsible for auditing the construction work in the interest of public safety. In addition to upholding the quality of municipal construction projects, we must also scrutinize construction projects commissioned by the Central Government or the private sector to prevent public dissatisfaction.
3. New epidemic prevention rules will be employed from March 1 to March 31. I’d like to remind everyone that mask and dining regulations are partially, not completely, relaxed. In particular, new cases of COVID-19 have been reported across Taiwan over the past few days, with several being untraceable. Also, the number of cases in neighboring countries such as Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea has increased significantly. We are not yet accustomed to coexisting with COVID-19, which is why we must still strive to stay safe. I ask concerned departments to keep on promoting epidemic prevention measures and enforce these rules in venues that call for it.
4. The Public Works Bureau must ramp up its supervision of the stage 2 construction for the Tainan Metropolitan Expressway northern bypass tender. Please pay particular attention to the quality of construction for the eastern section of the bypass.
