Minutes of Tainan City Government’s 545th Municipal Administrative Meeting 6/7/2022

Mayor’s remarks:
Due to a rise in commodity prices, the cost of the remodeling project for Chihkan Culture Park has increased. The Cultural Affairs Bureau should proactively communicate with the Central Government and try to secure additional funding.
Announcements
1.    The Cultural Affairs Bureau’s report on building a quality reading space and environment (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s remarks:
(1)     I would like to thank the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Tainan Public Library for encouraging the public to read more. With your efforts, our libraries have become even more diverse. Tainan’s libraries are more than places to borrow or read books, they also function as a place for community and social education. During the height of the pandemic, vaccine stations were set up at municipal libraries. Both parents and children alike were impressed by how welcoming the vaccine stations in the Naxos Music Library and the new main library were. This also gave parents the chance to take their kids to the libraries and foster positive connections with these venues. These are all examples of how libraries positively influence our lives. Again, I would like to thank the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Tainan Public Library for upkeeping the quality of our libraries.
(2)     As we continue to encourage citizens to read, the likelihood of citizens visiting libraries also increases, which places higher demands on the environment and public health of libraries. We must pay particular attention to the cleanliness of library bathrooms and epidemic prevention measures to prevent the spread of disease.

2.    The Bureau of Education’s report on the 2022 Children’s Art Education Festival (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s remarks:
This year marks the third year that the Tainan Children’s Art Education Festival has been held. The highlight of this event is the integration of art and education. The event also offers students a chance to demonstrate their creativity. However, seeing that the pandemic remains a concern, the Bureau of Education must ensure that epidemic prevention measures are in place for courses and camps. Should the pandemic ease in the future, in-person events can be held again. I would like to thank the Bureau of Education for organizing this event and introducing students to Tainan’s culture at a young age.
