The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced the commencement of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. On April 16, Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che took the initiative in receiving the first jab, along with top city government officials, fire agency emergency personnel and quarantine taxi drivers. The Mayor also urges the public to register in the vaccination system.
According to regulations by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), the following individuals are eligible to make a COVD-19 vaccination appointment: people at high risk exposure including disease prevention and control personnel at the central and local governments, flight crews of Taiwanese airlines, crewmembers on international merchant vessels, quarantine taxi drivers, front-line workers who deal with quarantine-related matters at quarantine hotels, and
those who must travel abroad due to special circumstances such as diplomatic personnel and other personnel engaging in official business and athletes and competitors representing Taiwan overseas.
Tainan City’s Public Health Bureau reminds the public to make vaccination appointments online or by phone, and bring their identification documents, such as their National Health Insurance cards, at the time of the appointment. Even after completing the COVID-19 vaccination, one should still adhere to the principles of the “New Lifestyle for Disease Prevention and Control”, including hand-washing, mask-wearing, and maintaining social distance to reduce the risk of infection and protect the health of ourselves and others.
