The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) raised the epidemic warning to Level 2 on May 11. In response to heightened epidemic prevention and control, Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che has announced the following restrictions and measures and ask all citizens to practice precaution:
- Public transportation: Ensure thorough disinfection and mask-wearing at all times, and prohibit consumption of food and beverages in transportation vehicles.
- Quarantine hotels: Complete audits and inspection, ensure strict division of quarantine and non-quarantine areas and personnel, and strengthen flow control.
- Public works: Implement regular on-site sanitization, personnel disinfection and real-name registration system, and request mask-wearing at all times.
- Restaurants and food courts: Install partitions in all eating and drinking areas, strictly prohibit all tasting activities, and implement real-name registration system for all customers.
- Night markets and wet markets: Install protection covers for cooked food with government subsidies, install partitions at on-site eating and drinking areas, and encourage carry-out dining.
- Public gatherings: In principle, suspend all outdoor activities of more than 500 people and indoor activities of more than 100 people; the government will closely examine the disease prevention and control plans provided by each event organizers and ensure thorough oversight.
- Hospitals and long-term care facilities: Suspend visitation to the 35 hospitals, long-term care facilities, and clinics with in-patient care in Tainan City; only one person can be allowed to accompany one patient or resident, and all persons must follow the real-name registration system and other management measures.
- Community care stations: Adjust on-site meal services into take-out dining for the elderly; implement thorough disinfection at these locations; and ensure temperature-taking and real-name registration for all the staff and elderly participants.
- Schools and school activities: Cancel graduation trips where clusters of students gather; require temperature-taking and hand sanitation before entering campus; prohibit the public from entering school campuses and sports facilities.
Tainan City Government is also actively preparing the following works. Please rest assure about government measures.
- City government agencies are preparing a standard operation procedure (SOP) and taking stock of manpower to ensure that we have a strong backup system to support rotating work schedules and that all essential facilities can operate without disruptions.
- The city government will soon announce whether recent events will be postponed or suspended.
- The city government is taking stock of the total number of available face masks to make sure that we have a enough supply during any emergency.
