Tainan City’s Response to COVID-19: Updates Regarding Business Relief, Vaccination Deployment, and Education Support Programs (2021/05/27)

Tainan City government convened a press conference on pandemic prevention and control in the morning of May 27. Specific measures cover business relief, vaccine deployment, and education support.


First, regarding business relief and support programs, Tainan City government has established a designated business response office and hotline (06-2954293). If your business is suspended or affected by the CECC’s shutdown announcement, you may apply for subsidies. Affected businesses can also extend their existing loan, or apply for loans to continue operation and revitalize business. Please contact the hotline for more details. 

 

Secondly, Tainan has received 13,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on May 27. These vaccines are meant to serve front-line medical professionals, including medical staff at COVID-19 or negative-pressure isolation wards, as well as medical and non-medical personnel in hospitals, clinics, and quarantine facilities. A total of 1,300 doses are also provided to police force and firefighters who take part in pandemic control and prevention.


Thirdly, concerning educational support, Tainan City government’s public live streaming courses have attracted over 2.4 million accumulated views since it went online on May 20. In response to the Ministry of Education’s decision to extend campus shutdown till June 14, Tainan’s Bureau of Education has already updated and extended the public streaming course schedule from May 31 to June 11. To ensure remote-learning quality whit protecting children’s eyes, the government also advises teachers to design and incorporate some rest time in their remote learning curriculums.
