The Updated Standard For The Suspension of In-person Classes of Tainan City

On Apr. 12, Education Bureau of Tainan City Government announced the updated standard for suspension of in-person classes. The new standard is also applicable to those schools which are under suspension.

1. If family members living with the student are “identified” as a close contact (in home isolation) by the health authority, this student shall take an epidemic prevention leave for one day and take online learning instead, before such a close contact receiving his/her negative PCR test result. Only when the PCR test result is negative can the student return to school.

2. If any student or teacher of a class is “identified” to undertake home isolation by the health authority, the class shall suspend the in-person classes (online learning instead) for one day before the above-mentioned student/teacher is tested negative by PCR. Only when the PCR test result is negative can in-person classes resume.

3. If any student or teacher of a class is “confirmed” as a COVID-19 case, the class he/ she belongs to shall suspend the in-person classes (online learning instead) for ten days. For those who have contacted with this confirmed case in settings such as other classes, student clubs, shuttle buses, dormitory, his or her class shall suspend the in-person classes (online learning instead) for two days, before he or she is tested negative. Only when the PCR test result is negative can in-person classes resume.

4. During the suspension of in-person classes, if more “confirmed” cases appear in other class of the school, please refer to the above-mentioned paragraph 3.

5. If one-third of classes or more than ten classes of a school have students/teachers confirmed as COVID-19 cases or identified to undertake home isolation, the school can suspend all in-person classes for ten days (online learning instead). In-person classes can resume when everyone who is “undertaking home isolation” are tested negative by PCR.
