Tainan City Government Dedicated To Creating A Tourist-Friendly Environment To Welcome Post-Pandemic International Visitors

Tainan City Government collaborated with the Taiwan Inbound Tourism Association (TITA) to generate a hospitality glossary database in five languages (Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and English) and a work manual for creating a tourist-friendly environment. The resources are available to local tourism industry businesses to help them enhance their hospitality service and welcome international visitors with ease.

Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che expressed that as the pandemic gradually slows down, it can be expected that the government will eventually open Taiwan’s borders. Since Tainan city will commemorate its 400th anniversary in 2024, the City Government has begun to actively promote Tainan and boost the city’s hospitality capacity so that international travelers will have a pleasant stay in Tainan. Relevant projects include preparing multi-language menus, providing language training courses for tour bus and taxi drivers, as well as training new residents in Tainan to become tour guides.

In collaboration with Taiwan Inbound Tourism Association, Tainan City Government also planned out related hard and soft infrastructure to make Tainan an easier place for international guests to navigate and compiled work manuals and online multi-lingual glossary databases. The goal is to help relevant businesses understand the needs of international travelers and provide professional service so that overseas guests can have an unforgettable visit and will want to visit again.
