Since autumn and winter are also seasons of peak influenza epidemics, the Tainan City Government urges the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible so that even if the inoculated individual catches the influenza virus later on, the symptoms will not become severe.
This year’s government-funded (free) influenza vaccines will be available from October 2. Groups eligible for the first phase of government-funded influenza shots include seniors aged 65 years and above, infants and toddlers between 6 months and 3 years, and medical personnel. The second phase begins on November 1, 2023, and those eligible are adults aged between 50 and 64 without high-risk chronic diseases. The above individuals are encouraged to get vaccinated promptly at any of the Tainan City contract hospitals/clinics or District Health Center. For more information, please visit the Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccine webpage on the Tainan City Public Health Bureau website (https://health.tainan.gov.tw/).
