Southern Taiwan Science Park Expands Phase IV Construction Project to Boost High-Tech Industry Momentum

The National Development Council has approved the preparatory plan for the Southern Taiwan Science Park - Shalun Eco-Scientific Park (Phase IV) to address Tainan’s rapidly growing AI, high-performance computing, cybersecurity, net-zero energy, and advanced technologies sectors. This expansion will add approximately 531 hectares to the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City area, with an estimated annual output value of around NTD 2.2 trillion.

Mayor Huang Wei-che of Tainan expressed gratitude for the central government’s support and offered full cooperation with land use changes and infrastructure development. Following the principles of “Industry Development, Environmental Sustainability, and Quality of Life,” the city will ensure that the Phase IV expansion balances local development with resident well-being. The city aims to become the future Asian Silicon Valley and core industry hub in the Greater Tainan region by combining crucial sectors - such as AI, semiconductor, IC design, robotics, drones, and green energy, as well as bringing in high-tech industry talents, developing peripheral areas, and upgrading industrial technology.

Located in Gueiren District, the 531-hectare new park, along with the high-speed rail station, the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, and the existing Southern Taiwan Science Park area, will complete the Southern Semiconductor "S" Corridor, which is projected to generate an annual output value of about NTD 2.2 trillion and 35,000 high-quality employment opportunities.
