Diplomatic Corps and Commercial Personnel in Taiwan Visits Enterprises in Tainan, Mayor Huang Wei-che Expects A More Active Industrial Communication

Organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Diplomatic Corps and Commercial Personnel in Taiwan visited Tainan’s enterprises on November 20. Mayor Huang Wei-che extended sincere welcome to the 38 envoys from 30 countries.

Mayor Huang addressed that he was glad to meet some old friends and then thanked the envoys for their long-lasting support to Tainan’s events such as the international orchids show and the dragon boat festival; he specially welcomed guests who paid the first visit to Tainan.

Mayor Huang further stated that the visiting delegation has visited GEOSAT and Aeon Motor, which are great companies for promoting innovations and smart technology in Tainan. He expects that more fruitful industrial interactions will occur in the future with the envoys’support.

Mayor Huang mentioned that despite the impact of the pandemic, Tainan’s agricultural products have been introduced to many countries such as Canada and Singapore and are very popular among the global market. Thus, he presented the seasonal “Green Ponkan” to the envoys for better promoting Tainan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu pointed out that MOFA has invited diplomatic corps to visit many cities in Taiwan. Yet Tainan City, the old capital of Taiwan, shows its quaint features that are different from other cities. Tainan is an ancient city but boasts many innovative and smart industries. Minister Wu added that it’s his honor to show the envoys that the new strength of Taiwan lies in Tainan.

Ambassador H.E. Jasmine Elise Huggins of Saint Christopher and Nevis, the dean of the diplomatic corps, indicated that the envoys were all missing Tainan. In previous years, they enjoyed the international orchid show and the dragon boat festival in Tainan. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the itinerary this year. Ambassador Huggins was glad to revisit the hospitable city and to discover various facets of Tainan through this enterprise visit.

This visit was built around “Future Industry – New Generation of Smart Technology Application.” Accompanied by the MOFA, the delegation visited corporations with potential for innovations and smartization in southern Taiwan.
