On June 23, Tainan City Government announced a newly confirmed case from Pingtung County. Case # 14409 is a male in his seventies and had visited Jiali District with Case # 14298 announced yesterday (both from Pingtung County). Two staff members of the shrine where they visited have been asked to undergo home isolation instead of self-health management.
It is noted that, according to the case investigation, the above-mentioned Case #14298 is a taxi driver, and his infection might be relevant to a grandmother and her grandson arrived from Peru. The Public Health Bureau of Pingtung County is currently identifying whether these two persons are infected by the new Peru-originated de variant “Lambda” or not. The city government thus once again urges citizens to stay alert to the fact of continuous mutation of the COVID-19 Virus.
