The adult baseball main field construction at the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers was completed ahead of schedule in January 2025, signifying the completion of the last part of the baseball village. Following the excitement of the Chinese Taipei team’s championship at the 2024 WBSC Premier12, the opening of the adult baseball main field highlights Taiwan once again on the global baseball scene. This main field is the largest outdoor baseball training base in Taiwan and will serve as an excellent off-site training site for all levels of national and international baseball teams.
The Training Centers’ adult baseball main field is the largest outdoor baseball field in Taiwan, according to Mayor Huang Wei-che. The field is equipped with full facilities and the outfield stand area is designed with no blind spots. To give spectators high-quality ballgame viewing experiences, the venue recently completed simulated testing for earthquakes, natural disasters, and rainwater retreat speed. The Mayor also mentioned that the world-class Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers have been progressively gaining global recognition and drawing a lot of inquiries from overseas teams. Hopefully, the collaborations can further promote Tainan’s baseball in the international baseball scene and facilitate more exchanges between domestic and international baseball teams.
The Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers hosted their first collaboration this January (2025) when the Korean baseball team Lotte Giants held their spring training session at the Training Center. The last time the team conducted their spring training in Taiwan was five years ago in Kaohsiung in 2019. Features that attracted the Lotte Giants to Tainan include the perfect indoor and outdoor venues and training equipment at the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers, the relatively warm winter climate in Tainan, its strong baseball culture, comprehensive medical care system, and low crime rate.
According to the Tainan City Government, President Lai Ching-te promoted the construction of the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers while serving as Tainan City Mayor. The Little League main and auxiliary fields at the Training Center were completed in 2019; and the second phase of the adult baseball field project kicked off in September the following year, gradually finishing the infield practice field, adult baseball auxiliary field, and indoor pitching and batting practice field. The completed adult baseball main field marks the completion of Taiwan’s largest and most comprehensive baseball training base and heralds a new chapter in Tainan’s long history of baseball.
