The Longci Light Festival - Void Mountain, regarded as the most beautiful mountain festival in Taiwan, ended its 51-day exhibition on February 16th. This shining presentation of light and shadow materialized through art and technology drew over 75,000 spectators and earned over NT 5 million at the box office.
According to Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che, the annual Longci Light Festival - Void Mountain focuses on regional issues and explores the local value of Longci. The event, which presented its sixth edition this year, combines cultural festivals with local communities to attract crowds and revenue to this small mountain town. It not only boosts the local economy but also creates more business channels for industries in the Tainan-Guanmiao Corridor.
The 2025 Void Mountain was curated by a new team – bodesign and artists Li Kuan-Yi and Liang Lai-Chang. Eleven groups of exceptional artists presented thirteen pieces of art under the theme 焰土新生, which translates to “Flaming Earth, Rebirth”. An interactive installation featuring a six-meter large outdoor gauze screen projection was set up in the woods for the first time. The futuristic creation sparked a lot of interactions between visitors and the artwork, went viral on social media, and attracted a lot of repeat visitors. With the perfect conclusion of this year’s exhibition, we look forward to the 2026 season in which we will continue to explore local characteristics and create more unique and captivating light and shadow art experiences.
