To promote Tainan’s diverse sightseeing resources and in-depth cultural experiences, the Tainan City Bureau of Tourism has launched the “Tainan Double-Decker Bus City Treasure Hunt – Let’s Go!” initiative. Centered on the “City Treasure Hunt” concept, it features twelve themed tours that combine double-decker bus rides with local experiences, guiding visitors to discover Tainan’s multifaceted charm. This approach breaks from traditional sightseeing, infusing the city’s tourism brand with fresh excitement and interactivity.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che pointed out that Tainan, Taiwan’s historic capital, is a city filled with rich and diverse living and cultural characteristics, and many of these unique local features are interwoven with everyday life instead of a single destination. The new city treasure hunt themed tours launched by the Bureau of Tourism involve over 40 local institutions and businesses across 22 districts throughout the city, giving tourists a chance to explore Tainan from a more local perspective through culture, businesses, and food, and establish a strong emotional connection to Tainan City.
The tours incorporate a “city treasure hunt” concept, with details unfolding gradually during the journey, adding elements of surprise and exploration. Every itinerary includes cultural or business experiences, special local meals, and storytelling tours, exposing visitors to Tainan’s diverse and multi-dimensional tourism landscape.
This series of tours is expected to run from April to September, with a total of 300 spots in 12 sessions. Each session lasts about 5 to 7 hours and may be adjusted according to the season and climate. Visitors can choose from single-day tours or two-day (one-night) tours under four available themes: City Culture, Seaside Fishing Villages, Rural Countryside, and Secret Mountain Towns, each planned out according to the different regional features of Tainan. Tours can be booked via the KKday website.
