Minutes of Tainan City Government’s 394th Municipal Administrative Meeting 06/26/2019

Mayor’s Remarks:
1.    The mango season is just around the corner. This year, both the quantity and quality are satisfactory. The Agriculture Bureau should ensure the grading mechanism is effectively implemented so that price is not affected by uneven quality. All bureaus and departments should assist with promotion. In addition, unscrupulous vendors should be punished, and relevant information be released to avoid misunderstanding. It is the mandate of county and city governments to decide when to initiate the acquisition and processing procedure. Please take into account the farmers’ best interest when discussing about the timing. Remember to proceed with marketing and mango processing in a professional manner, and issue announcement and explanation when needed.
2.    Extra caution should be made to prevent accidents during summer vacation. The Police Department, Fire Bureau, Bureau of Education, and Public Health Bureau should take precautions against accidents and injuries common among young people. Inspections should be conducted with the joint efforts from all bureaus to protect every young and precious life.

Mayor’s Remarks:
(1)    The subsidy program to create quasi-public kindergartens is of high priority to the central government. It was first implemented by former Mayor Lai and then was promoted throughout the country. Tainan City should continue our efforts in pushing forward this policy.
(2)    The establishment of quasi-public kindergartens is a main focus for the city government as a whole, not just the Bureau of Education. The Bureau of Civil Affairs, Bureau of Social Affairs, and other concerned departments should provide assistance when needed, and the Bureau of Social Affairs should continue communicating with early childhood education providers.
2.    The Fire Bureau’s report on the major fire safety inspection procedure and ways to improve. (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s Remarks:
(1)    Citizens should have access to the application of fire safety certificate and fire safety inspection and its progress at any time. Please start exploring the feasibility of building an online transparent inquiry mechanism.
(2)    There's no room for error when it comes to fire safety. The Fire Bureau should strengthen inspection on public facilities and put resident’s safety as a top priority.
