Announcements
1.    The Police Department’s report on increasing awareness about scams (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s remarks:
(1)     To citizens and the municipal government alike, preventing scams from happening is more important than solving such cases after they have happened. Trying to solve scams that have already happened requires more time and energy. Therefore, the municipal government places an emphasis on preventing such cases from happening in the first place. Police officers are not the only people who can prevent scams from happening. Frontline workers at convenience stores, post offices, farmers' associations, and financial institutions are also able to help out. I would like to express my gratitude to frontline workers who have successfully prevented scams from happening. Although they are not required by law to do so, they have intervened out of a sense of morality, responsibility, and disdain for fraud.
(2)     In addition to commending these workers during the municipal crime prevention meeting, we should also write an official letter of gratitude in the name of myself or the Police Department Chief to ensure that their supervisors are aware of their commendable behavior. Tainan’s rate of halting scams is the highest among the six municipalities. I urge the Police Department to keep up the good work.
2.    The Environmental Protection Bureau’s report on strategy for promotion zero emissions by 2050 (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s remarks:
The Environmental Protection Bureau’s performance is quite positive. Zero carbon emissions is not only the Environmental Protection Bureau’s responsibility but also the responsibility of the municipal government, students, and the public. Cutting emissions does not conflict with economic development. Over the past three years, we have seen a record number of investments in Tainan, all while having the highest percentage of green energy in Taiwan, which demonstrates our success in cutting emissions and greenhouse gases. Everyone should be proud of this achievement. Our collaborative spirit is what leads to such outstanding results in improving air quality. At the same time, we should strive to reduce waste and the amount of wrapping material used. This applies to both industrial waste and daily waste. Again, let us work together and do our part in cutting carbon emissions
