Major’s Remarks:
1. Tomorrow (25th) marks the 6th anniversary of my inauguration. The Zengwen Municipality Vision Park was repurposed from a decommissioned school campus into the city’s third municipal administrative center. This transformation serves a dual purpose: providing services to residents of the greater Zengwen area and enabling the city government to save significant public funds while maximizing the efficient use of existing buildings. Holding a municipal administrative meeting at Zengwen Municipality Vision Park today (24th) is therefore particularly meaningful. Special thanks go to Deputy Mayor Chao, Deputy Mayor Yeh, Secretary-General Fang, Deputy Secretary-General Yu, Deputy Secretary-General Yin, as well as all counselors, bureau and department heads, and colleagues, for their participation today (24th).
2. The six major visions that I proposed—"Prosperous Tainan," "Convenient Tainan," "Vibrant Tainan," "Sustainable Tainan," "Cultural Tainan," and "Glorious Tainan"—have been realized to a considerable extent through the collaborative efforts of various city government bureaus and departments over the past six years. As a result, Tainan's citizens have achieved the highest happiness index ranking in the nation.
3. Thanks to the efforts of former President Tsai, current President Lai, and the central government, along with the Tainan City government’s full cooperation and active efforts to secure opportunities, the city has become the core of the high-tech semiconductor corridor. Through expanded investment promotion, internationally renowned companies have chosen to establish factories in Tainan. As a result, the Southern Taiwan Science Park became the top-performing one of the three major science parks in 2022 in terms of output value and further extended its lead in 2023. By the end of this year, the park’s output value is estimated to exceed 2 trillion NTD, an increase of 420 billion NTD compared to last year. This year also marks Tainan’s 400th anniversary. The city has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from a historic cultural capital and agricultural hub into a rising star among emerging technological cities. The progress achieved through six years of collective effort is evident, and citizens can undoubtedly feel the transformation of Tainan.
4. Looking ahead, the Tainan City government will continue its efforts in areas, such as infrastructure development, urban functionality, drunk driving prevention, public safety maintenance, transportation convenience, and cultural initiatives. Regarding water resources, the Tsengwen Reservoir has remained at full capacity since June of this year, ensuring sufficient water supply for industrial, manufacturing, agricultural, and residential needs. Moving forward, we will further strengthen municipal administrative development. The city government team is encouraged to remain self-motivated, ensuring that Tainan neither falls behind nor is absent from the competitive stage, whether among other counties and cities in Taiwan or on the global stage. Let us all work together to achieve this goal.
