Major’s Remarks:
1. Recently, there has been a significant temperature difference between morning and evening, and many residents often keep their doors and windows closed. Relevant bureaus and departments are requested to strengthen public awareness of the importance of ventilation when using gas and water heaters and to promote actively the installation of residential fire alarms in households.
2. Although the central government’s total budget has not yet been finalized, continuity projects should continue to be actively promoted, particularly the improvement of dangerous intersections and safe routes to school. The goal is to provide a more user-friendly traffic environment for pedestrians and schoolchildren, ensuring that all road users—including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians—can travel more safely and with greater peace of mind.
3. The January 21st earthquake affected 26 villages across Nansi, Yujing, Zuozhen, and Dongshan Districts. Deputy Mayor Yeh is requested to convene with the Social Affairs Bureau, Agriculture Bureau, Economic Development Bureau, Tourism and Travel Bureau, Civil Affairs Bureau, Urban Development Bureau, Culture Affairs Bureau, Education Bureau, Labor Affairs Bureau, Transportation Bureau, Public Health Bureau, Finance and Taxation Bureau, and Land Administration Bureau for coordinated response efforts. Each bureau is to take responsibility for two affected villages, ensuring an orderly and efficient process for handling victims' concerns, overseeing reconstruction projects, and distributing cash assistance while preventing potential misunderstandings among the public.
Reports
1. The Agriculture Bureau presented a report on the "2025 Asia-Pacific Orchid Conference and Taiwan International Orchid Show Planning" (refer to written sources for details).
Resolution: Approved for reference filing.
Mayor’s Comments:
(1) The Taiwan International Orchid Show is one of our most significant events. Although Tainan City government serves only as a guiding and sponsoring entity, we aim for continuous improvement each year. With only 12 days remaining until the event, the Agriculture Bureau is requested to work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association. Relevant bureaus and departments are requested to optimize continuously every year and enhance areas that the public and councilors have identified in previous years for improvement, such as restroom facilities and traffic management. This will help ensure that all aspects of the Orchid Show, taking place from March 7th to March 23rd, be executed smoothly and receive positive recognition from the public.
(2) By optimizing infrastructure and introducing innovative activities, we aim to provide citizens with a refreshing experience. Through press conferences and various promotional efforts, we aim to enhance public awareness of the Orchid Show, attracting more visitors to Tainan to experience the event and explore the city. Special thanks go to the Agriculture Bureau and related departments for their support.
(3) The Agriculture Bureau is requested to explore the feasibility of adding more booths to the International Orchid Show venue.
2. The Sports Bureau presented a report on the "2025 Tainan Ancient Capital International Half Marathon" (refer to written sources for details).
Resolution: Approved for reference filing.
Mayor’s Comments:
(1) Originally, to prevent traffic disruptions and avoid raising public concerns, the Ancient Capital International Marathon was changed to a half marathon. Subsequently, concerns arose that the number of participants might decrease, but this year's event (2025) saw a record-breaking total registration of 24,105 participants, surpassing the 2024 numbers. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Sports Bureau, the Ancient Capital International Half Marathon has gained widespread recognition from both the public across the country and participating runners.
(2) This year, 399 international runners will join the marathon. All surrounding facilities, including food, transportation, and overall services, must be maintained to the highest standard to ensure a seamless experience, further strengthening Tainan City's reputation among both domestic and international participants. Appreciation is extended to the Sports Bureau, Police Bureau, and all relevant departments for their hard work.
(3) During the event, policy promotion booths will be set up to engage participants and spectators, aiming to spark their interest and achieve the goal of effectively promoting relevant policies.
