Mayor’s Remarks:
1. Today (11th), relevant bureaus and departments were asked to report on the preparations for Typhoon Fung-Wong. I take this opportunity to urge everyone to remain vigilant. Earlier this year, Tainan experienced an earthquake, followed by typhoon and flood disasters mid-year. These events have posed significant challenges to our disaster-prevention and emergency-response capabilities. Through repeated mobilization and the experience gained from past emergencies, we have strengthened our ability to carry out rescue and recovery measures in the shortest possible time while complying with central government regulations. I extend my sincere appreciation to the entire city government team for their dedicated efforts.
2. Regarding fipronil residue detected in eggs, which has raised public concern about food safety, the case reported in Changhua appears to be an isolated incident, and the source has not yet been identified. The Tainan City Public Health Bureau operates its own testing laboratory; please continue to strengthen random inspections and testing. Preliminary results indicate that no related cases have been identified in Tainan at this time. The Education Bureau must ensure the safety of all egg products used in school lunches. All relevant bureaus and departments are also asked to work closely together to safeguard the health and food safety of our residents.
3. The year 2026 will mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Tainan Canal. All relevant bureaus and departments are requested to expedite project implementation and initiate early planning for commemorative activities. The Water Resources Bureau is requested to monitor the water quality of the cut-off section of the canal and propose improvement measures.
4. For the “Tainan City Chihkan Cultural Zone Renovation Project,” the Cultural Affairs Bureau is requested to complete the work on schedule and to the required standard.

Mayor’s Comments:
(1) This year (2025), typhoons approaching Taiwan from the direction of the Taiwan Strait have included Typhoon Danas and Typhoon Fung-Wong. Typhoon Fung-Wong currently has a well-organized structure. We must remain vigilant to prevent further disasters. I also urge all residents to make advance preparations for typhoon conditions.
(2) In past years, Tainan has seldom been affected by winter typhoons. However, Typhoon Fung-Wong has shown unpredictable movement, fluctuating speed, and significant shifts in direction, resulting in many uncertainties. Although we cannot control a typhoon’s path, speed, or rainfall, we can make advance preparations and ensure readiness for emergency response. Appreciation is extended to all bureaus and departments for their efforts.
