Mayor’s Remarks:
(1) I would like to thank the Environmental Protection Bureau for its excellent work in restoring polluted land. Each year, we have revitalized more and more land, and we see fewer cases of pollution. I urge the Environmental Protection Bureau to leverage technology in its endeavors. For instance, please consider using drones or CCTV for monitoring illegal dumping. Please also work closely with law enforcement in deterring people who are considering dumping waste via illegal means.
(2) I ask the interdepartmental taskforce to lead as an example in reducing waste. Tainan’s recycling rate has risen from 54% to 63%, which is a significant improvement. That being said, we still have room for improvement. Let’s work on increasing our recycling rate, which will naturally lead to a reduction in waste. On one hand, this will contribute to environmental sustainability; on the other hand, it will ease the burden on incineration plants. Let’s all do our part to save the planet.
