Attention, parents of children who have an advanced level of proficiency in the English language! Tainan City Government’s Bureau of Education will launch the Advanced English Language Proficiency Curriculum program in the 114th academic year. First-year junior high school students who have passed the proficiency qualification exam can enroll in advanced English language courses regardless of which school they attend.
Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che pointed out that a good command of English is a useful tool for the new generation of students in the face of future challenges. The Advanced English Language Proficiency Qualification program aims to cultivate and support more outstanding local students through adaptive curricula and help them become future citizens who can thrive anywhere in the world.
As per regulations, the Advanced English Language Proficiency Qualification is only open to junior high school students and qualified students can participate in advanced English courses offered by the program school. Elementary school students who show strong English language skills and pass various qualification tests can also enroll in the program courses. Course content is planned according to the characteristics of each school. Elementary school students will be introduced to selected readings of the classics and sharing as well as creative storytelling, and junior high students will be exposed to activities such as journalism writing and Model United Nations.
The registration period for the junior high Advanced English Language Proficiency Qualification is from Jan. 6 to Jan. 15, 2025. Elementary school students in sixth grade who are registered in Tainan City or attend elementary schools in Tainan City are eligible to apply. The first and second stages of qualification are scheduled to be held in February at Tainan Municipal Yong-kang Junior High School.
