On December 21, 130,000 enthusiastic spectators rocked to the music at the first concert of the 2025 Tainan Christmas and New Year & Eve Festivities Series. Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che said that the city’s Christmas and New Year & Eve Festivities concerts offer the best artist lineups and most exciting performances, making them the best in Taiwan. These performances, which are now a Tainan city trademark, draw a large number of domestic and international performers and audiences.
A-listers and well-known performers are invited to perform at the city’s annual Christmas and New Year’s Eve concerts. In 2019, Korean group ASTRO and (G)I-DLE appeared on stage, followed by Hyoyeon from Girls’ Generation in 2020. Korean pop princess Sunmi and new-gen idol group EPEX performed in Tainan in 2022, and popular singer and actress Kim Sejeong was here in 2023. According to the Mayor, this year’s concert will feature more eye-catching stars. Today, EVNNE, a hot new group from Korea, expressed that they like Tainan very much and are happy to have Tainan as their first overseas concert stop.
As an act of hospitality, the Tainan City Government set out numerous local treats backstage for the artists. The performers happily snacked on old-fashioned gua baos, pumpkin seafood fried rice noodles, savory seafood porridge, Tainan milkfish ball soup, traditional migao (sticky rice topped with minced pork), braised beef and beef tendon, lu mian (braised noodles), migao porridge, and heibai qie (assorted side dishes) and thanked the city government for their thoughtfulness.
This year, the three concerts of the Tainan Christmas and New Year & Eve Festivities series will feature nearly 40 groups of popular artists, including domestic pop groups, rock bands, classic songstresses, popular singers, and the winners of the Golden Horse Best Original Film Song and the Golden Melody Best Vocal Group Awards.
