Mayor’s Remarks:
1. Summer electricity rates will be implemented starting in June. Government agencies should spearhead water and power conservation efforts and encourage all government employees to make an added effort to conserve water and electricity. Please ensure that light and climate control equipment are turned off when leaving meeting venues to avoid energy wastage. The end of the monsoon season marks the beginning of the typhoon season. Departments are reminded to prepare themselves fully for potential drought and floods.
2. Pedestrian rights are receiving increasing attention. We are committed to ensuring that road markings and signals at intersections conform to national standards. We also have plans to gradually expand pedestrian scrambles and zebra crossings in the city. Since the initial phase of improvements will focus on key intersections, the Bureau of Transportation is requested to continue improving the top hundred intersections in the city and regularly notify the public of its progress. Intersections must be continuously improved, optimized, and maintained to be pedestrian friendly. The Bureau of Transportation is urged to continue working towards achieving this goal.
3. The Social Affairs Bureau is requested to center efforts on expediting the construction of the North District Huade Long-Term Care Center for the Elderly.
