Mayor’s remarks:
1. Today, the Bureau of Education reported on its efforts in expanding the number of public preschools in Tainan City, and the Cultural Affairs Bureau on this year's Bring the Art to Your Community event. Both projects are carried out with Tainan's unique characteristics in mind. We've made great strides in expanding our public preschool network since the induction of a new city government in the second half of 2019. As of August 2021, we've not only made concrete progress but also seen exponential growth. The Cultural Affairs Bureau has worked tirelessly on the Bring the Art to Your Community event, which aims to show the public that the government values cultural preservation. I want to thank everyone involved in organizing this immensely popular event.
2. As we work hard to safeguard our citizens against COVID-19, African swine fever, dengue fever, and Japanese encephalitis, I ask that all bureaus and departments remain vigilant and stringently follow government guidelines in eliminating breeding sources and carrying out epidemic prevention work. We've seen a slowing of the COVID-19 epidemic as our vaccinated population exceeded 40%. Our border control efforts have also effectively prevented a pandemic in Taiwan. I thank you for your efforts.
3. More and more industries will begin opening back up amid the epidemic slowdown. I implore relevant bureaus and departments to focus their efforts on crowd control, congestion management, and overall public order.
4. Roads, gutters, and surveillance equipment must be updated in order to open closed communities smoothly. I ask the Secretary-General to convene with the Public Works Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, Bureau of Civil Affairs, and other relevant bureaus and departments to formulate effective and economic improvement strategies.
