Mayor’s Remarks:
(1) Public restrooms are an important facility for advanced civilizations. With many things in life, people tend to focus on having something first and then work on bettering it in the future. However, this doesn’t apply to public restrooms. Public restrooms must be abundant and of high quality, because the public takes notes of the cleanliness, brightness, and service quality of public restrooms. Therefore, establishing public restrooms that are excellent from the get-go is a goal we should work toward. That being said, if resources are limited, it is acceptable to have average public restrooms as long as they are clean.
(2) The municipal government encourages the civic-led establishment of public restrooms. As for the issue of paid public restrooms, Taiwan’s culture and social conditions must be taken into consideration. To prevent hindrances in the promotional process, we must maintain open communication with the public. Topics such as the ratio of female to male restrooms and the promotion of unisex, family, and accessible restrooms are often the focus of council members and the public and should thus be prioritized.

(1) Now is Tainan's pineapple and bamboo season. Tainan is the second-largest producer of pineapples in the country and a major producer of bamboo. By collaborating with the Farmers’ Association and administrative districts to organize marketing events, concerned departments are sure to increase the public’s understanding of Tainan’s produce.
(2) The objective of organizing produce marketing events is to provide citizens and visitors a better understanding of and the chance to try local produce, which will then increase their fondness for local produce and their willingness to purchase such products. I hope that we can continue to organize these events in the future.
(3) COVID-19 cases are on the rise. Other than traditional brick-and-mortar channels, concerned departments should also enhance online marketing channels to help citizens, and people from other parts of Taiwan purchase produce from Tainan.
