Minutes of Tainan City Government’s 547th Municipal Administrative Meeting 6/21/2022

Mayor’s remarks:
1.    Tainan City Council is currently in session. Issues raised by the council members, if founded, should be addressed as soon as possible.
2.    We should place an emphasis on developing new marketing channels for agricultural goods, such as the development of new markets and clientele, which will broaden the scope of the market.
Announcements
1.    The Public Health Bureau’s report on Dengue fever prevention (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s remarks:
(1)     A Dengue fever outbreak occurred in Tainan City in 2015, which had a significant impact on residents’ health, as well as the public health, development, and economy of Tainan. This type of disaster must never happen again. Therefore, I implore all departments to remain cautious and treat the 2015 outbreak as a valuable lesson. Please be sure to implement epidemic prevention measures. Zero local Dengue fever cases were reported in Tainan over the past two years. Let's aim toward maintaining this spotless record in 2022.
(2)     Omicron’s BA.4 and BA.5 variants are likely to enter Taiwan at any moment, which means that we must remain vigilant and practice epidemic prevention measures. However, we should also pay attention to preventing the spread of Dengue fever.
2.    The Agriculture Bureau’s report on the 2022 Tainan International Mango Festival (refer to written sources for details)
Decision: Approved for reference filing
Mayor’s remarks:
There has been an underproduction of mangos this year, which has disrupted the marketing and distribution of mangos. A low supply of mangos is reflected in rising mango prices. Nevertheless, restaurants have found a way to incorporate mangos in high unit price dishes, which is a clever way to address the issue. Rather than worrying about an oversupply of mangos, we have to worry about an undersupply this year. We should put measures in place beforehand and expand marketing channels this year to accommodate an increase in mango production next year. Assisting farmers sell goods is the government’s responsibility; by developing diverse marketing channels, we can fulfill our obligation to farmers. The objective of the 2022 Tainan International Mango Festival is also to increase the possibilities of mango sales. I would like to thank the Agriculture Bureau for its report.
